Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals with Ryde are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. Should any discrepancies arise between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle with Ryde
- To rent a vehicle from Ryde Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although specific age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle type, with additional fees for those under 25. A valid, full driving license appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, in addition to any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations for our car hire services can be completed via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Ryde location. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment partners.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign it. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had when collected; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so contact us if you anticipate a delay. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Policies
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your potential financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless further coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and modification policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Prohibited activities include using the vehicle for illegal purposes or engaging in racing, off-roading, or other dangerous pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting to unauthorized parties, or allowing unapproved drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside of agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent are also violations of our terms.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Ryde Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
